Those
who fight to Save the Earth, they are the members of Korean
Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM)
A
full time volunteer involved in the creation of an internet
site for wetland protection wrote "The human race will
remain to exist, if wetlands remain to exist" in 'Recommended
wetland areas'.
It
sounds so natural, but today's reality is far from it, for example,
lifting of restriction in greenbelt zones, the destruction of
the Saemangeum tidal flat, Shiwha Lake pollution, and the carelessly
developed Baekdu Daegan. Sooner or later, we may have nothing
to preserve.
Our
generation should not bequeath the disrupted Saemangeum tidal
flat and destructed Baekdu Daegan to the next generation. The
earth where we live now is the place where we will stay for
a while and bequeath to our children. Civil movements to save
the environment should be initiated by the foundation of the
society, ordinary citizens. The more people who participate
in the environmental movement, the more effectively and efficiently
our ecosystem will be protected.

Voice from Members : Why I became a member of KFEM (June, 2001)
I expect big things of KFEM so that our descendants can inherit an
uncontaminated land. I give big applause to the impressive action
of activists! – Lee
Woon-young
I have loved to
live with nature since I was very young. So I took part in KFEM to
restore our perishing nature through various actions. I want a better
world for my sons!
– Park
Yong-won
Always thought
about it-even if it is tiny thing. I just wanted to take care of the
beauty of my surroundings.
– Oh
Dong-sik
I suggest disposing
of the garbage hidden under forests and rivers and legislating heavy
penalties for anyone who throws away wastes without permission.
– Moon
Gue-ju
In attempt to
participate in a worthwhile NGO, the environmental movement seemed
to be the very one. So I looked up the Internet and found KFEM. I
hope my volunteer activity could be beneficial to the community.
– Bak
Sun-young
When I was fired
from my work due to labor movement, I traveled all over the country
by bicycle. And I found Korea is not beautiful land but garbage-heaven.
As I believe the environmental movement is the foundation for all
other acts, I want to be a member of KFEM.
– Kim
Ho-sun
I couldn't bear
this little island rotting and being destroyed. I also want to know
more on the significance of nature and be a guard of Earth.
– Kim
Jong-hun (He lives in Jeju Island.)
undermining eco
system. Wish to go back to nature we remember when young¡¦ or ignorance
of people¡¦ let's protect pure and beautiful nature of Korea forever!
– Lee Young-hwa
